GRAM DAL CHUTNEY/ POTTUKADALAI CHUTNEY







Ingredients:


1/2 cup fried gram / Pottukadalai
3/4  cup  grated fresh coconut
3 green chillies or red
a  small piece of ginger
A pich of asafoetida powder
A small piece of tamrind
Salt to taste
Some sprigs of curry leaves to be ground with the dals and coconut.


To temper


1/2  tsp mustard seeds
1 red dry chilly
1 tsp oil

Method


Grind to a paste all the above ingredients mentioned in the ingredients list
Add some water to make it thin as is normally done in restaurants.
I dont know why but it does taste great when watered down. a bit.

Pour the tempering on the chutney

Serve with dosas, paniyarams, appes, idlis and even Pongal
