Vrat or fast is a time when you eat out of the routine so you get to enjoy some yummy treats too like this delicious millet sheera.
Try it once and you will have sheera using these samo/moraiyo only.
1 cup varai/samo/moraiyo/barnyard millets
1 1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup sugar
3/4 cup pulp of ripe banana
sliced blanched almonds
10-12 cashewnuts and raisins, cardamom powder a pinch
Strands of saffron soaked in milk
3 tbsp ghee
First powder the varai/ millets to coarse powder, add all the ghee in a pan, roast the powder till a fine aroma comes.
Add the banana puree, hot milk,saffron soaked milk, sugar, keep stirring well, add roasted cashewnuts, raisins, cardamom powder, sugar keep stirring till it cooks and thickens.
Remove and garnish with sliced blanched nuts.
Enjoy the Vrat with a delicious sheera.
