Beaten rice upma ( Aval upma )







This is a simple easy way of making a quick tiffiin , when you do not want to  work hard in a hot kitchen.
Almost similar to the kanda poha recipe , here in this recipe , we just add only green peas and mix  it with soft beaten rice.


Ingredients


 2 cups beaten rice, cleaned and soaked in water for 10 minutes.
1/2 cup cooked green peas ( optional )
 2 tbsp green chillis chopped
 2 tbsp cilantro chopped
salt to taste.
2 tbsp lime juice.
2 tbsp grated fresh coconut
Pinch of sugar
1/2 tsp mustard seeds
1 tbsp roasted peanuts.
1 tbsp oil
Pinch of turmeric powder.
sprigs of curry leaves for granish



Method


Take the beaten rice, after soaking for few mutes, change the water till the rice is cleaned well, then drain completely in a colander.
Cook the green peas and drain and keep aside.
In a pan add some oil, pop the mustard seeds, add the green chillis, pinch of turmeric powder.
Add the drained beaten rice, salt, roasted peanuts, cilantro and mix well, add the cooked green peas too.

Remove from flame and when cool add the lime juice.

Serve with a topping of fresh coconut grated and a sprinkle of sugar.
