Totally indispensable in the kitchen, Dhall powder or Paruppu podi as it is called is a must have among various powders in the kitchen . It is our emergency life saver as we call it. Rasam , sambar need not be made every single day and also on days when we are not able to spend time in the kitchen, this powder is so handy , nutritious and tasty too.Just mix it up with plain white rice and some sesame oil , have it with a roasted papad or fried papad, it tastes absolutely divine.
1 1/2 cups Moong dal
1 1/2 cups chana dal
1 cup toor /tuvar dal
8 red dried chilis
2 tsp cumin seeds/ jeeera
1 1/2 tsp pepper
salt to taste
Dry roast all the dals seperately till golden brown
Roast the red chillis till they darken and appear crisp.
Roast the cumin and pepper.
Let everything cool down and then grind to a smooth powder.
Store in an air tight container.
