Sambar powder :
The following recipe is good enough to prepare sambar regularly by using two or three tsp of this powder, depending on no of people you are serving.
Quite handy to have at home and can be easily milled at home itself.
350 grams Dry red chillies
350 grams Coriander seeds
8 sticks Yellow turmeric roots ( Virali )
1/2 cup Toor dal
1/4 cup bengal gram ( Chana dal )
3 1/2 tbsp black pepper
3 tsp cumin seeds
1 tbsp fenugreek seeds ( methi )
Roast all the above ingredients in a pan without oil
Grind in home mixie to a fine powder .
Store in an air tight container.
For smaller quantities, reduce proportionately.
Mixed veg sambar using the sambar powder.
