Easy French Apple dessert square

This is a lovely recipe which I adapted from Betty Crocker
This can be easily baked using pancake mix.

For the streusel

1 cup pancake mix
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup butter
3/4 cup chopped mix nuts

Fruit mixture

4 cups peeled thinly sliced apples
Pinch of  cinnamon
1 cup pancake mix
Pinch of nutmeg
1 cup powdered sugar
1 cup milk
2 tbsp butter ( melted)
4 eggs beaten as per original recipe
( I used fresh yogurt whisked  approx 3/4 cup )

Keep oven preheated to 350 degrees F /180 degrees C
Grease a 13 by 9 inch pan or a suitable one, .
In a bowl, mix the pan cake mix, brown sugar and the butter. Use a pastry blender or any tool to make the mixture crumbly.Use a knife otherwise.

Add the nuts , mix well and keep aside. This is the streusel topping ready for use.

In another bowl, mix the apples, spice flavorings remaining ingredients , whisking yogurt,  and pour this into the greased pan.

Sprinkle the streusel topping over this mixture of apples .

Bake until golden . May take around 50 minutes.

You can test with a knife, when completely cooled, cut into squares and serve with ice cream  or whipped cream.
